The 5th season of MBC The voice, the Arabic edition of the popular talent show, kicked off on Saturday 21st of September.

This year, the judging panel included two new members, Moroccan singer Samira Said and Ragheb Alama instead of Lebanese singer Elissa and her fellow Lebanese singer Assi Hallani respectively.

The other two judges are Egyptian singer Mohamed Hamaki and Emirati singer Ahlam. They both made their debut as Voice coaches last season.

The show is hosted by Jeddah-based presenter Yasser Al-Saqqaf and Nareen Faraj.

Noteworthy, The Voice: Ahla Sawt is the Arabic version of Dutch show The Voice of Holland created by John de Mol and produced by Talpa Media Group.

The first season of Arab world’s version of The Voice debuted on September 14, 2012, and was broadcast worldwide from Beirut, Lebanon via MBC 1.

The Voice: Ahla Sawt has three stages: the blind auditions, the battle rounds, and the live performances.

The blind audition:

Each contestant will be allowed to sing for 90 seconds with each of the coaches having their backs to them. When a coach wants a singer on their team, the coach presses a red button that results in the chair being turned around to reveal who the singer is to coach, who will then join their team.

If two or more coaches turn around for that singer, the singer will select which coach they want to join.

Each coach will have to select 12 singer to form their team out of 100 contestants.

The battle rounds:

Once the blind auditions finish, the battle rounds will begin and the coaches will pair two singers from opposed team to compete against each other perform the same song on stage.

Live performances:

Live performances are the final stage, where the coaches will begin eliminating the contestants, then after a series of eliminations, live performances will be staged and the public can vote for the winner of the “The Voice.”
