Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed received on Thursday evening, the first shipment of a Chinese coronavirus vaccine produced by the Chinese company (Sinopharma), at Cairo International Airport, coming from the United Arab Emirates.

The minister said that Egypt is witnessing a historic day, thanking President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his keenness to provide the Coronavirus vaccine to the Egyptian people, stressing that Egypt is the first African country to get a Coronavirus vaccine.

Zayed pointed out to the depth of the relations with the Emirati people, in addition to the friendly relations with the Chinese people, as Egypt was able to obtain the first shipment of the Chinese vaccine from the Chinese company (Sinopharm) with the support of the Emirati G42 healthcare company.

The Minister confirmed, during a press conference held at Cairo International Airport, that the Coronavirus crisis showed the solidarity of the peoples. She thanked the United Arab Emirates and the Chinese government for their support for the Egyptian people in obtaining these vaccines, noting that clinical trials were conducted on this vaccine in Egypt. She also expressed pride in participating in the clinical trial of the Chinese vaccine.

The Minister stated that this shipment is the first of several consecutive shipments that will be received during the coming period, confirming that the vaccine will be provided free of charge in accordance with the directives of President Sisi.
