Algeria's National Assembly announced that it "will not forgive" the Moroccan ambassador's move to the United Nations after distributing a document to members of the Non-Aligned Movement, considering the matter an "unacceptable and unreasonable failure."

The National Assembly headed by Salih Gojil said in a statement that "It receives with great astonishment the unacceptable and unreasonable statement of the representative of the Moroccan King to the United Nations, who has publicly and officially declared Morocco's support for the so-called "right of self-determination for the tribal people".

The move could help ignite tribal regions in Algeria to ask for independence, in response to Algerian support for the independence of the Western Desert in Morocco.

It added that this stance, which is of "no value" in diplomatic and legal terms, a position that repeats the old and renewed annoyance of the successes achieved in the history of Algeria, and under the leadership of the President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who is  taking steady steps towards consolidating the country's institutions and strengthening the independence of its political decision."

The assembly added: "The National Assembly office affirmed that Algeria of November, Algeria of sacrifices and glory, will not forgive such a mistake from a regime accustomed to maneuvering, conspiracy and continuous violation of the sanctities of neighboring countries."

It stressed that "the council expresses its hope that the Moroccan side will remedy the speed of its inferior and scandalous downfall...and considers it a severe apostasy in violating international law, an unprecedented slide into the abyss, and a blatant breakout of inadequate diplomacy that entered a stage of foolishness and miscalculated recklessness towards Algeria."
