Ramtane Lamamra, Algeria’s Foreign Minister (FM) has depicted recent statements by French President Emanuel Macron as political regarding historic memory insolvency.

The Algerian minister is paying a state visit to Mali, a country neighboring his country in the south.

The West African state is still witnessing escalating tensions between government forces, supported by France and local hardliners Islamists.

Lamamra called Macron to adopt the approach of mutual respect between France and the African nations if France wants to develop mutual relations with the Africans.

The Algerian minister asked the foreign partners to get rid of illogical behaviors under the absurd claims of the civilizing mission of the West, stressing that such a phrase was used as an ideological cover to justify anti-humanism crimes in either Algeria or Mali and the other African peoples.

He stressed that Macron’s statements regarding Algeria and Mali are insolvency in the matter of historic memory, pointing out that relations of his country with France were based on giving and taking principle because the joint interests could be raised in the atmosphere of mutual reverence.

It is worth noting that a new conflict arose between Algeria and France; so the Algerian presidency decided last Saturday to call the Algerian Ambassador to Paris.

This decision came on the backdrop of France’s statements that were published by Le Monde”, a French daily newspaper about the French historic memory in Algeria.

The statements of the French president stirred controversy added to a standing crisis after Paris reduced the number of entry visas granted to Algerians who want to come to France for work or other purposes.

A spokesman for the French Armed Forces said that Algeria has closed airspace to French war jets.

On her part, Mali summoned her ambassador to France yesterday, Tuesday to protest Macron’s statements.

France’s President slammed the government of Mali and described it as non-government because it was supported by rebels.
