Algerian Foreign Minister (FM) Ahmed Attaf and his Romanian counterpart Luminita Odobescu, discussed developments in the situation at the regional and international levels.

They also exchanged views in particular on the Palestinian issue, in light of the terrible tragedy and worsening suffering experienced by the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip amid the inability of United Nations Security Council to assume responsibility entrusted to it.

This came during the talks that Attaf held, on Tuesday in Bucharest, with the Romanian Minister, as part of his working visit to Romania.

The discussions focused on evaluating the cooperation and partnership relations between the two countries in various fields such as trade, energy, training, higher education, and agriculture, as well as examining the work of the mechanisms that frame Algerian-Romanian relations.

The two parties also agreed on the goals and priorities of bilateral cooperation in the next stage, as well as on the schedule of bilateral entitlements, including the next session of the Joint Committee for Economic and Technical Cooperation.

Furthermore, they discussed latest developments in region, especially those related to Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and the crises of Mali and Niger.

In addition, the two parties valued the successful experience of organizing a joint training course in Algeria last October for the benefit of representatives of a significant number of African countries on security and peace in the Sahel.

They also agreed to consolidate this initiative and expand it in the future, as well as coordination and exchange of support in international organizations of common affiliation.
