Algerian FM, High-ranking US officials Discuss Libya, Palestinian Cause

Algerian Foreign Minister (FM) Ahmed Ataf, discussed with high-ranking officials of the National Security Council at the White House as well as the US State Department, developments in the Middle East, Libya and Palestinian cause, according to a statement issued by the Algerian Foreign Ministry.

This came during Ataf's official visit to Washington, commissioned by the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The statement added that Ataf and coordinator of the National Security Council for the Middle East and North Africa at the White House, Brett McGurk discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, Libya and Palestinian issue, in light of the efforts led by the United Nations.

The head of the Algerian diplomacy also discussed with the US Assistant Secretary of State, Derek Shuli, who is preparing to occupy the position of Deputy Minister of Defense, the developments of the crisis in Niger and ways to coordinate the two countries' efforts to enhance the chances of a peaceful solution to the crisis.
