The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement, Wednesday, the reopening of its embassy in Tripoli, within the coming days, after a 7-year closure.

The statement added that the Foreign Minister Sabri Bouqadoum visited the embassy in Tripoli, in order to resume its diplomatic activities.

In the same vein, Bouqadoum affirmed the country's consistent position and solidarity with the Libyan people since the beginning of the crisis, stressing the need to reach a political settlement through a Libyan-Libyan dialogue.

The Minister believes that this move would lead to the establishment of legitimate and unified institutions through fair and transparent elections.

The Algerian embassy in Tripoli has been closed since 2014 after the security implications of the capital.
