Algeria Slams Morocco-Israel Normalization Deal

The Algerian Prime Minister, Abdelaziz Djerad, said on Saturday that his country is targeted by several parties, in addition to the imminent regional threat and, calling for unity to confront those threats.

During his participation in a historical symposium marking the 60th anniversary of the demonstrations of December 11, 1960, Djerad said, "There is a real to bring the Zionist entity to our borders within the framework of a foreign plan to target Algeria."

The minister stressed the need to intensify Algerians' efforts to solve domestic problems.

Djerad stressed that the Algerian people want unity, stability and freedom based on "respect for our religious principles."

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced the approval of Morocco and Israel to normalize diplomatic relations, making it the fourth Arab country to agree to normalize relations with the Hebrew state in recent months.

Trump wrote on Twitter: “Another historic breakthrough today! Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco agreed to establish full diplomatic relations… a massive breakthrough for peace in the Middle East.”

“The United States recognizes Moroccan sovereignty over the entire territory of the Sahara and reaffirms its support for Morocco’s serious, reliable and realistic proposal for autonomy as the only basis for a just and lasting solution to the conflict over the Sahara lands… To this end, a consulate will be opened in the Sahara region in the city of Dakhla to promote economic and commercial opportunities for Morocco,” the White House statement stated on Thursday.
