The Health Algerian Ministry announced on Monday, that 17 states have not recorded new cases of Coronavirus.
Algeria is expected to start distributing a coronavirus vaccine for its citizens who wish to take it for free, an Algerian official said on Friday.
Noteworthy, on December 3, 2020, Algeria registered 843 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19). After the first wave of the virus from July to mid-September 2020, the second wave started at the beginning of November. during this period, the highest number of new daily infections was recorded in Algeria, which peaked at 1,133 cases on November 24, 2020.

On the other hand, Kamel Senhadji, the State Health director said: " we are studying all vaccines scientifically, and if approved, we will start the vaccination operations a month from now in batches, according to official Algerian Radio."
Senhadji added;' 'Be sure, we will not get the vaccine until the World Health Organization approves its effectiveness and quality." Also, he reported that the vaccine will be free for all Algerians and it will not be compulsory.

Earlier, Algerian Pharmaceutical Industry Minister, Lotfi Benbahmed said that his country is able to produce the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against coronavirus. Benbahmed’s remarks came during the signing of a tripartite partnership agreement between Algerian, Russian and Korean pharmaceutical companies.
The Algerian minister’s statements also come a day after the Director General of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev, announced that there is a possibility to start producing the “Sputnik V” vaccine in Egypt and Algeria.
“More than 40 countries, representing more than 50% of the world’s population, have expressed interest in the Sputnik V vaccine,” he said.
Dmitriev added that the fund has received orders for more than 1.2 billion doses of the vaccine.
