On Saturday, Algeria announced that it will extend the lockdown on Blida area until April 29, in a step aimed to curb the outbreak of coronavirus amid increases in deaths and confirmed cases, according to the prime minister's office.
In a statement, it added that the government decided to extend the full lockdown imposed on Blida area, south of the capital Algiers, in addition to the night curfew in the country's remaining 47 provinces until April 29.
"All other preventive measures will remain in place," the office noted, referring to measures including the suspension of flights and public transport and closure of universities, schools, restaurants, and cafes. Algeria has so far reported 2,418 infections and 364 deaths.
Several world countries have tightened restrictions on movement and travel, with the aim of curbing the spread of the Coronavirus, and some have pledged billions of dollars in economic stimulus programs to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.
It is worth mentioning that, more cases of the virus, which causes respiratory disease COVID-19, continue to emerge, with outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.

Transmission of virus between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough.
It can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.
