On Monday, the Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has said that Algeria is looking to achieve reconciliation between the parties to the conflict in Libya with the aim of bloodshed and stability.
According to statements made by Algerian Member of the National Assembly Abdel-Wahab Bin Zaeem to the Russian "Sputnik" agency, Algeria called for the adoption of a plan to bring together the Libyan parties inside Algeria or anywhere else to achieve these goals.
He believed the important axis for achieving reconciliation comes with the assistant of neighboring countries such as Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia because they all have common borders, tribes, customs, and traditions.
Bin Zaeem added that any country, especially neighboring countries, including Egypt, in the framework of its initiative, can receive the parties and develop a deep dialogue.
Dialogue should be activated that creates a transitional council and a consensual government and defines a mechanism for conducting parliamentary and presidential elections, ending the political crisis, and paying attention to Libya's reconstruction, he said.
Algeria's President meeting with the Libyan Parliament Speaker
On Saturday , the Algerian President received the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Aguila Saleh Issa and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the Algerian president reiterated his country's keenness to hold a national dialogue between the Libyan warring parties with a view of reaching a political solution as the sole way to preserve Libya's sovereignty away from foreign military interference.
On his part, the Parliament Speaker said that the Algerian president promised to unify efforts with Egypt and Tunisia to resolve the Libyan crisis.
He added that he briefed the Algerian president on Egypt's initiative, dubbed Cairo Declaration, which aims to achieve comprehensive ceasefire in Libya and engage the two Libyan parties into political dialogue.
Aguila pointed out that Tebboune promised to exert his utmost efforts to hold peaceful negotiations between the Libyan National Army (LNA) and the Government of National Accord (GNA) to reach a lasting solution to the current crisis in consistent with the outcomes of Berlin Conference.
The Libyan Speaker stressed the importance of Algeria's pivotal role in settling the current conflict in the North African country.
Notably, Saleh landed in the Algerian capital earlier today, in an official visit to discuss the crisis that has been going on in the country for years, amid increasing calls for dialogue and a settlement.
Saleh was received by the Speaker of the Algerian Parliament, Slimane Chenine, and the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sabri Boukadoum, according to the Sky News Arabia correspondent.
