Algeria Backs Saudi Arabia Amid Rising Gulf Tensions

In response to the intensifying military escalations in the Middle East, the Algerian Presidency has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to diplomatic dialogue.

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune held a high-level phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday to discuss the deteriorating security situation. During the call, President Tebboune expressed Algeria's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations facing military threats. He emphasized the urgent need for "restraint" to prevent a wider regional conflict that could have devastating consequences for international security.

Simultaneously, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf received ambassadors from several Arab countries that have recently come under military attack. Acting under the directives of President Tebboune, Attaf reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its sister nations.

"Algeria stands firmly with its Arab brothers against these unacceptable violations," Attaf stated, stressing that the language of dialogue must prevail over military force.

The diplomatic push comes as the region faces one of its most volatile periods, with reports of widespread strikes affecting various Gulf nations. Algeria’s stance highlights its role as a regional mediator seeking to bolster stability and protect the security of Arab populations amidst the ongoing Israel-Iran confrontation.
