Algeria Announces AFCON 2019 Final Squad

Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi announced on Tuesday his 23- man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

The list of the Algerian coach includes only one locally- based player Hicham Boudaoui. The 19- year old plays for Paradou. The squad also includes Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez.

Although the Desert Warriors won the title only once, they are still one of the strongest candidates to claim this 2019's AFCON.

Belmadi's men will play their first match against Kenya on June 23 at 10:00 CLT at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium.  They were selected alongside Senegal, Kenya, and Tanzania in group C.

Midfielders: Haris Belkebla (Brest, France), Ismail Bennacer (Empoli, Italy), Mehdi Abeid (Dijon, France), Sofiane Feghouli (Galatasaray, Turkey), Adlene Guedioura (Nottingham Forest, England), Hicham Boudaoui (Paradou).

Forwards: Adam Ounas (Naples, Italy), Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City, England), Islam Slimani (Fenerbahce, Turkey), Yacine Brahimi (Porto, Portugal), Baghdad Bounedjah (Al Sadd, Qatar), Youcef Belaili (Esperance Tunisia).

It is worth mentioning that Egypt will host the African Cup of Nation from 21 June to 19 July. The hosts will play the opening match against Zimbabwe on 21 June at the Cairo stadium.
