Alexandria Sees Heavy Rain on Thursday

Alexandria saw a wave of unstable weather, heavy rain, strong winds, and temperatures decline amid the beginning of the "Al Faida El Kobra" (Sea's water overflooding) storm.

The temperatures ranged between 17C during the day, and 12 during the night hours with wind speed reaching 30 Km/h, and the height of the sea waves ranged between 2.5 and 3 meters.

Therefore, Mohamed El Sharif, the governor of Alexandria, ordered taking all necessary preparations and declared the status of emergency in the whole city to face the storm.

The authorities also announced that the transportation in the Mediterranean was stable and natural, regardless of the quite high waves.

Tarek Shahin, the director of Alexandria Port Authority, directed the concerned departments of security, and rescue to be ready for receiving any calls for help from ships or boats in Alexandria and El Dekhila ports.

Amid New Year's Eve, Alexandria received a storm which is the New Year’s Eve storm.

Heavy showers, high waves, and frost fall are expected by the Egyptian meteorologists in the upcoming few days.

Therefore, the city's authorities decided to declare the status of emergency, and important meetings for observing the weather and its aftermath will be organized; it will be headed by Governor Mohamed Al-Sharif.

Moreover, all rain drains were checked and cleared.
