Thousands of demonstrators rallied across Albania on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama over a controversial luxury resort project backed by a company linked to Jared Kushner.

Protesters gathered in the capital, Tirana, under the slogan "Albania Is Not for Sale," accusing the government of prioritizing powerful investors over environmental protection and public interests.

The project, supported by Affinity Partners, is planned near protected coastal areas and key habitats for migratory birds along Albania's southern coastline.

The development has become a symbol of broader public frustration over alleged corruption, coastal overdevelopment, and the influence of wealthy business interests. Demonstrators have dubbed the movement the "Flamingo Revolution," referring to the wildlife habitat they say is under threat.

Rama rejected calls to step down, insisting the project is vital for Albania's economic development and European ambitions. Meanwhile, Albania's anti-corruption agency, SPAK, is investigating land ownership issues linked to the project.

The protests mark one of the largest anti-government demonstrations in Albania in recent years, highlighting growing tensions over foreign investment, environmental protection, and political accountability.
