Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a delegation from the US House of Representatives, headed by Republican Representative August Pfluger, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, and the membership of a number of Congress representatives from the Republican and Democratic parties, in the presence of Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Major General Abbas Kamel, Head of General Intelligence.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, Counselor Dr. Ahmed Fahmy said that the meeting witnessed a confirmation of the strength and solidity of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, while affirming the role of Congress in strengthening these relations and pushing them to broader horizons, especially in light of the multiple challenges at the regional and international levels.

The official spokesman added that the meeting discussed in detail the regional situation, especially in the Gaza Strip, where the President reviewed Egypt’s intensified efforts for an immediate ceasefire and the entry of relief aid, to save more than two million Palestinians from enormous human suffering.

The President stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities in pressing for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire and preventing the escalation of military operations in the Palestinian Rafah, reiterating Egypt’s complete rejection of any efforts aimed at displacing the Palestinians from their lands.

During the meeting, the two sides also agreed on the danger of the expanding circle of conflict in the region, which threatens regional and international security and peace, stressing that the two-state solution is the guarantor and the way to restore and consolidate security and stability in the region.
