The head of the Transitional Sovereign Council in Sudan, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, said that the formation of the Constitutional Court must be expedited.

Al-Burhan stressed the importance of the appointment of an independent chief judge as there is no solution to the current situation without dissolving the government.

During his participation in a symposium for the Sudanese army, Al-Burhan demanded the formation of a new parliament that represents all the people.

He also called for expanding the base of political parties in the transitional government.

He renewed keenness to reach a national consensus and expand the base of participation by involving all revolutionary and national forces except for the dissolved National Congress Party, led by the ousted President Omar Hassan Al –Basher.

Speaking today, Monday, in front of officers and soldiers of the Bahri Military District, Khartoum,  in the presence of a number of army commanders, he said that the armed forces will protect the transitional period until free and fair elections are reached in which the Sudanese people choose who will govern them.

However, the official broadcaster in Israel, "Kan", reported that the US administration is pressuring Sudan to sign the normalization agreement with Israel and to establish diplomatic relations with it.

The Israeli broadcast noted that these pressures come after a year of Sudan actually slowing down in this process, partly due to differences within the Sudanese leadership between the military and civilian levels in the country.

Last week, a Sudanese security mission comprising military and security officials visited Israel secretly, in order to strengthen relations between the two countries.

The Kan report stated that it is not only Sudan that is on the path to normalizing its relations with Israel.

During his visit to the United States this week, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid will discuss with American officials the normalization of relations between Israel and other Arab countries.

Lapid will meet with US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.
