The head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, expressed his welcome to any initiative that removes the specter of civil war from Sudan, spares the blood of the Sudanese, and restores national cohesion, stability and security of the country.

Al-Burhan said in an interview with Al-Qahira News Channel yesterday, Monday, that the government of Sudan has representatives in the initiative that is currently taking place in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and not only for the armed forces, and we seek through this initiative to lay real foundations for stopping the fighting.

Al-Burhan explained that "the initiative includes the withdrawal of fighters from residential areas and services, emptying the center of the capital of military presence, and evacuating the homes of unarmed citizens from snipers and armed occupation."

He stressed that, contrary to what he mentioned previously, it is not possible to talk about a ceasefire or any other action.

He pointed out that "the negotiations at this stage revolve around a cease-fire and stopping fighting, and the return of reassurance to citizens, which will not be achieved with the presence of armed gangs on the roofs of houses, and that there is no place to talk about political action at present."
