Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif welcomes the Danish Parliament’s announced adopting of a law criminalizing the burning of the Holy Qur’an, stressing that this commendable and appreciable step would put an end to the attempts to infringe upon and attack the sanctities of Muslims, and that it would consolidate positive citizenship, and societal and world peace.
Al-Azhar also confirms that this step comes in the right direction to curb the intensity of anti-Muslim hate speech. It thus expresses hopes that such a step will be an incentive for other European countries witnessing similar incidents to enact similar legislations that ban insults to religions and religious sanctities in a way that ensures societal peace and security.
