Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif condolences to Venezuela following a devastating earthquake that reportedly killed hundreds of people and left thousands injured or displaced.
In a statement, Al-Azhar said it stands in humanitarian solidarity with the Venezuelan people, expressing sympathy to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.
The institution said it was following reports of widespread destruction, including the collapse of hundreds of buildings and residential towers, as well as emergency measures and large-scale evacuations in affected areas.
Al-Azhar called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to provide urgent assistance to support rescue operations, help locate people trapped beneath the rubble and provide shelter for displaced survivors.
The statement concluded with prayers for mercy upon the victims and for the safety and recovery of those affected by the disaster.
