Al-Azhar Grand Imam Receives Kuwaiti Ambassador to Discuss Enhancing Cooperation

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, received Kuwait’s Ambassador to Egypt, Ghanem Saqr at Al-Azhar headquarters in Cairo to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and deepen ties between the two sides.

During the meeting, Al-Tayeb welcomed the Kuwaiti ambassador and emphasized the strong fraternal relations linking Egypt and Al-Azhar with the State of Kuwait, noting the steady development of cooperation across various fields. He also reiterated Al-Azhar’s condemnation of attacks targeting civilian facilities and endangering civilian lives in Kuwait and across the Gulf region, stressing the importance of safeguarding the security and stability of peoples and nations.

For his part, Ambassador Saqr expressed his pleasure at meeting the Grand Imam and praised Al-Azhar’s leading role in promoting the true teachings of Islam, reinforcing values of moderation and tolerance, and advancing a culture of global peace and human fraternity.

The ambassador affirmed the strength of relations between Kuwait and Egypt, as well as the historic bonds between their peoples, underscoring his country’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Al-Azhar and benefiting from its scholarly standing and moderate approach to foster coexistence and peace in the region and beyond.
