Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, met with Poland’s Grand Mufti in Cairo to discuss strengthening cooperation with Muslim communities worldwide.
Al-Tayeb reaffirmed Al-Azhar’s commitment to promoting citizenship, coexistence and mutual respect through dialogue and engagement with Muslims across the globe.
The Polish mufti praised Al-Azhar’s moderate and enlightened approach to Islam, stressing the Polish Fatwa Council’s commitment to its methodology. He also expressed his country’s interest in expanding cooperation to advance balanced religious discourse and support the values of tolerance, dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
The meeting reflected ongoing efforts by both sides to counter extremism and promote moderation through international religious cooperation.
