At Al-Azhar Headquarters, His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif received the Muslim Scouts Union delegation participating in the World Scout Conference held in Egypt, with the attendance of representatives from 174 countries, and in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Major General, Jibril Rajoub, Head of the Palestinian Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
Grand Imam At-Tayyeb stressed the important role of the Scout Movement in spreading the values of tolerance, peace, and coexistence, stating: “You, young people, have to bring cultures closer together, promote peace among people, and participate in highlighting their pains and problems. We have a crisis of injustice and human oppression, and the demolition of all human and moral values that the Palestinians in Gaza are suffering under shameful global silence. Your voice must be harnessed to expose the dangers of the brutal aggression and daily massacres committed by the occupier, especially since the youth constitute an influential front and can express themselves.”
For his part, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi expressed his appreciation to the Grand Imam for hosting the meeting at the Headquarters of Al-Azhar, especially since His Eminence the Grand Imam strongly supports youth causes and the causes of the nation in various fields.
Then, Mr. Rajoub expressed his pleasure to meet the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, saying, “You enjoy a special position in the hearts of the Palestinians. You represent tolerant Islam, and your voice and support for the Palestinian people are heard and influential and warm the hearts of all Muslims around the world. I am here to convey to you the feelings of the Palestinians. You represent us and your, and Al-Azhar’s, position in support of Palestine is an honor for us and it is our position. Your words reflect the voice of everyone who has values and morals.”
The representatives of the Scout Union expressed their great pleasure to attend this important meeting and meet with His Eminence the Grand Imam, stressing that the meeting is a message of support for what they are doing. They also asserted that they highly appreciate the Grand Imam’s efforts in promoting the values of tolerance, moderation, coexistence, and justice, and intercultural coexistence. The youth also thanked the Egyptian state for organizing the largest scouting movement in the world and congratulated Egypt on holding the World Scout Conference.
