General Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian Minister of Defense and the newly elected President of Indonesia, received Dr. Ahmed El-Tayyeb, Al-Azhar Grand Imam and Chairman of Muslim Council of Elders, to discuss joint cooperation between Al-Azhar and Indonesia and ways to intensify international mobilization to stop the aggression on Gaza.
At the outset of the meeting, Grand Imam congratulated Prabowo Subianto on his victory in the Indonesian presidential elections, praying to Almighty Allah to grant him success and guidance in leading his country and supporting the causes of his nation.
He noted that Indonesia represents an exemplary Islamic model in development, progress, and maintaining religion and values in a multi-religious and multi-cultural society.
Moreover, Grand Imam emphasized the necessity of mobilizing international efforts for the immediate cessation of the aggression on Gaza and facilitating the entry of humanitarian and relief aid to the isolated sector.
He also called for providing all necessary support to stop the bloodshed that has been ongoing for more than eight months without international, legal, humanitarian, or moral deterrence.
Furthermore, El-Tayyeb expressed Al-Azhar's appreciation for Indonesia's supportive stance on Palestinian rights, especially since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza, and for extending a helping hand to our brothers in Gaza by preparing and sending relief convoys in cooperation with Al-Azhar.
