His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed Al-Tayeb, received President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, on Tuesday to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and promote global peace.
During the meeting, Al-Tayeb stressed that the world urgently needs de-escalation and an effective, binding mechanism to enforce international humanitarian law, warning that ongoing conflicts and violence threaten global stability and human security.
Stubb praised the Grand Imam’s international role in promoting dialogue, coexistence and human fraternity, noting that many global leaders draw inspiration from religious scholars and that listening to ethical and spiritual guidance can help create a more peaceful world.
Both sides emphasized the importance of cooperation between political and religious leaders to address global crises and strengthen international stability.
