Al-Azhar strongly condemns, in the harshest terms, the heinous terrorist crime carried out by Zionist occupation gangs, who set fire to the Hajjah Hamidah Mosque in the West Bank, a scene that reflects the brutal behavior of these extremists who show no respect for the sanctity of God’s houses and embody a hateful extremism toward everything Islamic.
Al-Azhar affirms that violating mosques and attacking their sanctity is a reprehensible crime that targets not only places of worship, but also the feelings of Muslims - and indeed believers - across the world. Such attacks constitute a blatant violation of all religious teachings, ethical values, and international norms and laws, and represent a continuation of the occupation’s malicious policies aimed at Judaizing all of Palestine and altering its religious and historical identity.
Al-Azhar warns of the grave consequences of the continued perpetration of such terrorist acts aimed at imposing a de facto reality through force and intimidation under the protection of occupation forces. It calls on the international community, United Nations institutions, and all concerned bodies to shoulder their legal and moral responsibilities, take serious and urgent steps to stop these crimes, hold the perpetrators accountable, and end the state of impunity enjoyed by settlers and occupation forces.
