Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif condemns, in the strongest terms, the despicable terrorist attack that targeted a secondary school in Mpondwe, western Uganda, killing at least 41 people.
It affirms that the heinous crime is a proof of the perpetrators’ lack of any sense of mercy, humaneness, or religious or moral values, stressing that targeting innocent and safe students exposes these extremist groups’ strategy to shroud the minds with prevalent ignorance through striking educational centers, schools and universities.
Al-Azhar thus calls on the International community to show solidarity by enhancing the capabilities of countries, especially African countries, to combat and eliminate such brutal terrorism.
Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif also extends sincere condolences to, and expresses sympathy with, the families of the victims and the Ugandan people and leadership, praying to Allah the Almighty to protect the innocent people, and all humanity from all types of harm.
