Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif condemned the continued closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, describing the move as an unacceptable and unethical act that deprives Palestinians of their right to practice religious rituals.
In a statement posted on its official social media platforms, Al-Azhar said the restrictions imposed on the mosque during the holy month of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr, and continuing afterward, constitute a clear violation of international law and an affront to Muslims worldwide.
The institution called on the international community to confront what it described as systematic actions aimed at escalating tensions and turning the region into a sustained arena of conflict.
Al-Azhar reiterated that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is an exclusively Islamic holy site and rejected any attempts to alter its religious identity or impose changes to its status.
