Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif called for an immediate halt to the war in the region and an end to what it described as the continued bloodshed of innocent civilians.
In a statement, Al-Azhar expressed firm rejection and condemnation of violations of Arab states’ sovereignty and attacks on their territories, resources and populations. It said such actions are rejected by morality, religion and international law, regardless of the justifications offered.
The Cairo-based institution urged the international community to intervene to restore peace in the Middle East and prevent further escalation, calling for a decisive and urgent move to stop conflicts that are costing civilian lives.
Al-Azhar also appealed to all parties to exercise restraint, prioritize wisdom and humanitarian values, and return immediately to dialogue and negotiations.
