President of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdulrahman AlAsoomi, advocates for direct communication channels between voters and legislators during his visit to China’s Legislative Communication Center. He emphasizes that this will improve the effectiveness, public engagement, and continuity of legislative initiatives.

In a move highlighting the evolving face of global politics and civic engagement, Adel bin Abdulrahman AlAsoomi, President of the Arab Parliament, underscored the significance of continuous communication between voters and their legislative representatives. The statement was made during his recent official visit to China's Legislative Communication Center in Beijing. AlAsoomi accentuated that such two-way communication not only facilitates listening to voter concerns but also actively involves citizens in the crafting of laws that impact them directly, thereby enriching the legislation's effectiveness and sustainability.

During his visit to Beijing, the Arab Parliament President was particularly impressed with China's approach to legislative communication. The Legislative Communication Center in China enables citizens from all provinces to actively contribute to the legislative process. Experts and specialists assist them, especially during the final stages of law drafting, said a representative from the center. This strategy has led to laws being proposed and enacted based on suggestions from ordinary citizens, showcasing the role of grassroots involvement in Chinese democracy.

AlAsoomi emphasized that similar mechanisms could offer tremendous value to Arab states, facilitating constant and structured interaction between voters and legislators. He urged Arab countries currently lacking such frameworks to consider implementing the Chinese model. "Making ordinary citizens partners in law-making is fundamental to the principles of governance and civic responsibility," AlAsoomi noted.

Additionally, AlAsoomi and his delegation received insights into the intricacies of China's electoral process, which also employs several layers of public participation.

By fostering direct channels of communication between the public and legislative bodies, AlAsoomi believes that laws and initiatives can be more aligned with public needs, thereby making them more effective and enduring.
