In a solidarity and supportive gesture from Al-Ahram Editorial Board, the most prestigious journalistic institution in Egypt, for medics. They convened wearing white medical coats on Thursday.

Everyone wore the white coat to express their appreciation and respect to all health workers who are standing at the first line of the fierce war waged by the Egyptians to confront the Coronavirus.

At that war the medics are ready to sacrifice their souls to save the other citizens. They gain the confidence of their citizens inside and outside the homeland, setting the best example to be emulated.

On the other hand, the celebration of Al Ahram with the medics continues until late this evening.

The prestigious building of Al Ahram will be lit in lights in the image of a doctor in the white coat with a symbolic standing in front of the building.

A number of public figures will participate in that standing- Karam Jabr, head of the National Authority for the Press, columnists and journalists of Al Ahram along other journalists from outside Al Ahram such as Khaled Miri, Chief Editor of Al Akhbar, representing the Journalists Syndicate Council.

The editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram Alaa Thabet said that what the paper is offering today is the least estimate of Egypt’s doctors for the sacrifices they make for us. They deserve all the support and salutations.

End of a direct editorial board

Thabet revealed that the editorial board of Al Ahram has stopped convening for the first time since 144 years.

It resumes meeting again after the crisis clears at the hands of our scientists and doctors. The editorial board will meet online.

He stressed: "The state has moved and decided some rights for the doctors, but we aspire more for them because they deserve it."
