Egypt's Ahly was crowned champion of the African Champions League by defeating South Africa's Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 in the final that brought them together at the "Mohammed V" stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, which the South African team ended with ten players, after its player Happy Maciani was expelled directly after his violent intervention against the Egyptian Akram Tawfik in the last moments of the first half.

Al-Ahly entered the second half strongly and took advantage of the numerical shortage of its opponent in the best way by scoring three goals through Mohamed Sherif, Mohamed Magdy “Afsha” and Omar Al-Soliya in the 53rd, 64th and 74th minutes, respectively.

The Egyptian star "Afsha" was chosen as the best player in the final match.

This is the second successive victory for Al-Ahly with the continental championship title and the tenth in its history, which is a record, while Kaizer Chiefs failed to win the title in its first arrival to the Champions League final and was satisfied with the runner-up position.

Al-Ahly became the first team in the continent to win the Champions League title in two consecutive editions three times, in 2005, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2020 and 2021.
