Al Ahly skipper Mohamed El-Shenawy has claimed the CAF's Interclub Player of the Year for the season 2021-22 .
The Football governing body in Africa nominated 20 candidates in the the preliminary list of the 2022 Interclub Player of the Year award before announcing the final shortlist, including 10 players.
Five players from Al Ahly have been nominated in the both list, including Mohamed El-Shenawy, Ali Maaloul, Percy Tau, Mohamed Sherif, and Aliou Dieng.
Mohamed El-Shenawy and Aliou Dieng have managed to feature in the final shortlist.
It is worth mentioning that, the Red Devils have suffered a 0-2 defeat to Wydad in the CAF Champions League final, however the brilliant performance of El Shenawy enabled him to claim the award.
