In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child 2024, Al Ahly Sporting Club (Al Ahly SC), one of the most renowned football clubs in the region and Africa, and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) have reiterated their shared commitment to advancing #GirlGoals and advocating for girls' rights.
Players from the women's first football team collaborated with girls of various nationalities in a video aimed at promoting their rights.
This initiative represents the inaugural official collaboration with the women's first football team, as part of the renewed four-year partnership between Al Ahly SC and UNICEF, focused on enhancing the rights of children and youth in Egypt.
In September, UNICEF and Al Ahly SC renewed their partnership for another four years in order to implement a range of collaborative initiatives, encompassing campaigns, sporting events, and advocacy programs focused on critical issues such as positive parenting, empowerment of girls, child protection, nutrition, and social inclusion. The prominent athletes of Al Ahly, including the newly formed women's football team, is instrumental in these endeavors.
According to UNICEF, this renewed partnership builds on the achievements of the previous collaboration and strengthens the shared vision and goals of UNICEF and Al Ahly SC.
The aim is to leverage the transformative power of sports in promoting children and youth’s rights and well-being.
In July 2019, UNICEF formalized a four-year partnership with Al Ahly SC to promote the rights of underprivileged children throughout Egypt.
