Russian missiles hit an aircraft repair plant in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv on Friday morning, destroying its building.
Mayor Andriy Sadovy said several missiles hit areas in the west of Ukraine, landing near the airport at Lviv, the mayor said. It was the first reported strike in some days in regions closer to the Polish border.
Sadovy added that the plant had been stopped, affirming that there were no casualties from the strike.
On a separate note, Ukraine's military said the plant was struck by cruise missiles launched from the direction of the Black Sea.
The military noted that the type of the missile was likely Kh-555 which are launched from heavy strategic bombers.
U.S. President Joe Biden will discuss the situation in Ukraine with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. Biden will stress that the U.S. will “impose costs” if Beijing backs Russia, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said.
Blinken confirmed, on Thursday, that an American citizen was killed in a Russian shelling attack northern city of Chernihiv, but he did not provide any further details.
