Sources told "Sky News Arabia" news network, on Tuesday, that there had been simultaneous air strikes since dawn in Khartoum, Khartoum Bahri, and Omdurman, and continuous shelling with heavy weapons.

Residents of Khartoum said that air strikes and artillery shelling escalated sharply in the capital, on Tuesday, as the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) sought to expel the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which it has been fighting for more than a month.

Witnesses stated that they heard the sounds of air strikes, clashes, and explosions in the south of Khartoum, and there was heavy shelling during the night in parts of the neighboring cities of Bahri and Omdurman.

Fighting between the SAF and the RSF is concentrated in the capital, but has sparked unrest in other parts of Sudan, especially in the western region of Darfur.

The conflict has forced some 200,000 people to flee to neighboring countries, and displaced more than 700,000 within Sudan, triggering a humanitarian crisis that threatens to destabilize the region.
