Ain Shams Engineering Student Receives 1st Double Degree from UEL

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Ain Shams University announced that the first student from the International Credit Hours program has obtained two graduate degrees.

The first degree was obtained from the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University and the other one from the University of East London (UEL) in the United Kingdom.

Also, the partnership and dual certificates agreement were signed with the University of East London in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and the presidents of the two universities on August 18, 2018, at the Ministry's headquarters.

The agreement specifies that the Engineering's programs and educational services can be accredited to the foreign partner by visiting the Accreditation Committee and the British Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.

Current students studying in the college can apply for the certificate after one full year of study.

Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Director of Credit Hours Programs, and Director of the Office of International Cooperation added that the results of the students for the dual certificate are submitted on the UEL website. The results of the teams are reviewed by a committee of critics from outside the two universities and the Quality Agency.

The review consists of several stages, including one on tests, model answers, all exercises and reports that are required of students during the semester including learning results, curriculum, program and quality standards.

He explained that the review deals with a student-written survey concerning the curriculum and teaching methods through two forms of inquiry, the first after the mid-term tests and another before the end of the semester. Forms are corrected electronically and then presented to committees.

It is worth mentioning the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University is the first governmental practical college to offer dual certificates to students from a British university, confirming that the college is comparable to international schools in global education systems.
