Egypt’s Red Crescent (ERC) has launched its 107th humanitarian aid convoy to the Gaza Strip, carrying thousands of tons of urgent food and relief supplies as part of ongoing efforts to ease the worsening humanitarian crisis in the enclave.

The convoy, part of the “Zad Al-Ezza” initiative, departed from Egypt toward Gaza via the Al-Awja and Kerem Shalom crossings. It includes large quantities of winter clothing, blankets, and bedding, in addition to essential food baskets, at a critical time as a severe weather system has struck Palestinian territories, damaging infrastructure and flooding the tents of displaced families.

The aid shipments also contain staple food items such as flour, wheat, rice, and dry canned goods, as well as petroleum derivatives needed to operate electricity generators in hospitals, provide lighting, and keep bakeries running. The assistance is being delivered in coordination between the Egyptian Red Crescent and its Palestinian counterpart, in line with agreed humanitarian priorities.

Humanitarian and relief organizations have repeatedly warned of a sharp deterioration in conditions inside Palestinian territories due to severe shortages of food and medicine, compounded by restrictions on the work of aid agencies. These challenges have increased the burden on the ERC, particularly as aid deliveries are currently limited to entry through the Rafah crossing from the Egyptian side.

The latest convoy underscores Egypt’s continued commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and addressing urgent humanitarian needs amid escalating hardships in Gaza.
