The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Dokki hosted the sixth edition of its monthly cultural initiative, "Ahlan Korea," celebrating the unique heritage and traditions of Jeju Island, one of South Korea’s most renowned cultural and natural destinations.

The event welcomed 25 members of the Egyptian Federation for Scouts and Girl Guides, offering them an immersive experience that introduced Jeju’s distinctive identity, rich history, and vibrant cultural traditions.

The program began with an introduction to Jeju Island, highlighting its customs, festivals, traditional cuisine, and cultural legacy. Participants also learned about the island’s exceptional natural beauty, which has made it one of South Korea’s most popular travel destinations. Home to a unique ecosystem and remarkable volcanic landscapes, Jeju has received multiple UNESCO recognitions, attracting visitors from around the world with its breathtaking scenery, diverse wildlife, and peaceful atmosphere.

The event featured a variety of interactive cultural activities. Participants had the opportunity to wear the traditional Korean hanbok, gaining firsthand insight into Korea’s traditional attire and customs. They also took part in a Minhwa folk art workshop, where they explored the beauty of Korea’s traditional painting style through a hands-on craft experience.

The cultural journey concluded with a Korean food tasting, allowing attendees to sample a selection of the country’s signature dishes and experience another important aspect of Korean culture.

"Ahlan Korea" is a monthly initiative organized by the Korean Cultural Center in collaboration with the Korean Tourism Organization. Each edition introduces Egyptian audiences to a different Korean city or region, promoting cultural exchange and showcasing Korea’s diverse heritage and tourism attractions.

Educational and cultural institutions interested in participating in future editions are encouraged to contact the Korean Cultural Center for more information.
