Agriculture Min. Meets EU, AICS Representatives

In a step intended to enhance Egypt's agricultural sector, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk held a meeting with representatives of the European Union-CAFI program, the European Union (EU), and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) in Cairo. 

The discussion focused on current and future cooperation between the Ministry and international development partners. It highlighted projects and initiatives aimed at strengthening the food security system and promoting sustainable agricultural development in line with Egypt's vision to enhance the efficiency of agricultural production.

The delegation consisted of several key figures, including Alice Beslan, Team Leader at the European Union Delegation to Egypt; Eva Stamenova, Project Manager at the EU Delegation; Angelini Marinucci Luna, First Secretary at the Italian Embassy in Cairo; and Tiberio Chiari, Head of the AICS Cairo Office, along with various experts from the agency. Dr. Adel Abdel-Azim, Head of the Agricultural Research Center, also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Minister Alaa Farouk emphasized the strong strategic relations between Egypt, the European Union, and Italy. He hailed the EU-KAFI Program for its role in supporting Egyptian farmers and enhancing agricultural value chains.

Furthermore, Alaa Farouk affirmed the importance of agricultural scientific research and highlighted the Agricultural Research Center's efforts in developing solutions to address climate-related challenges and increase the productivity of strategic crops.

In turn, Representatives from the European Union and Italy reaffirmed their commitment to providing technical and financial support for projects that advance the Sustainable Development Goals and ensure the stability of food supply chains.
