A report issued by the Ministry of Agriculture revealed that Egypt is the eighth largest producer of mangoes in the world.

Mango cultivation is also flourishing in the Suez Canal region, the northern delta, and Aswan.

The idea of holding mango festivals has expanded in a number of governorates, where for the first time a festival was held in Suez, and markets are waiting for the Ismailia festival to be held soon.

The report added that mangoes in Egypt have a distinctive taste that makes them on the list of the most important agricultural products in terms of export.

The most prominent countries importing Egyptian mangoes are the Arab Gulf countries, Russia and the United Kingdom, with a quantity of 75 thousand tons during the current year.

The Suez Governorate witnessed the launch of the Mango Festival, with discounts amounting to between 40 and 50% in the markets in the current period. The first Mango Festival in Suez was opened in the Parking area at the new Suez Corniche, last Thursday.

The festival also witnessed a great turnout by citizens, who praised the prices and quality of mangoes, and the organizers increased the number of sellers due to the large number of people.

The Suez Canal region has a preference in the cultivation and export of mangoes, such as Owais, Al-Siddiqa, Mabrouka, and others, and large quantities of them are exported to the Arab markets.

According to a report issued by the agricultural quarantine, mangoes are among the most prominent agricultural crops that are in demand internally and externally, and thus provide opportunities to increase the pace of export during the coming period.

A report received by the Minister of Agriculture revealed that total agricultural exports rose to 4,701,225 tons since the beginning of the year, compared to 4,133,000 tons during the same period last year, an increase of nearly 600,000 tons.

The report said that citrus exports came in the first place with about 1.9 million tons, while potato exports came in the second place with a value of 882,712 tons, while fresh onion exports came in the third place with about 333,701 tons.
