The African Peace and Security Council chaired by Ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Addis Ababa and its permanent representative to the African Union, adopted a resolution unanimously condemning the transfers of foreign terrorist fighters to Arab and African countries.

Abdel Khalek stressed that decisive measures should be taken against countries that support terrorism and are involved in the transfer of foreign terrorist fighters to African countries.

In his statements, the Egyptian ambassador pointed out that the decision comes in light of the meeting held by the Council to discuss the serious security implications associated with the increase in the flow of foreign terrorist fighters to Africa.

He noted that the members of the Council unanimously agreed that this phenomenon contributes to the increase in the pace of armed conflicts in the continent, condemning the countries that have proven involvement in systematic operations to transport foreign terrorist fighters from conflict zones outside the continent via known routes.

Abdul Khalek also confirmed that the Council issued this strong decision in a clear message to the countries involved in the recruitment and transfer of foreign terrorist fighters from some conflict areas such as Syria, and their deployment in Libya, which represents a crude violation of international peace and security.
