Africa Covid-19 Cases Exceeds 2.5 Mln

The total number of Africa Covid-19 cases surpassed 2,5 million according to Reuters statistics issued Today. South Africa remains the country most affected by the virus, with 9,12,477 cases and 24,539 deaths. This country has seen a sharp increase in infections since December.

Meanwhile, the other Countries such as, Congo Democratic , Nigeria, Mauritania, Ghana and Ivory Coast saw a sharp increase in cases and record rates of infections.

On other hand, the governments are imposing measures that include lockdowns, curfews and restrictions on gatherings before Christmas celebrations, including the mandatory wearing of masks in public spaces.

Moreover,the South African government announced that it had detected a new strain of Corona virus, which was a push for a 2nd wave of infections.

Worth noting that as developed countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom start vaccinating their people, most poorer African countries are depending on the World Health Organization’s COVAX program, which aims to deliver at least 2 billion vaccine doses by the end of 2021.

Also, The total number of global Covid-19 cases surpassed 75 million with over 1.6 million deaths and more than 42 million recoveries, according to Johns Hopkins University report issued on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Chinese mainland on Friday recorded 17 new COVID-19 cases, including three locally transmitted cases and 14 ones from overseas. Also, COVID-19 cases in the U.S. topped 17 million, with the death toll surpassed 310,000. U.S.
