The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) announced changes to the arrangements for its 2026 Annual Meetings and Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, originally scheduled to take place in El Alamein, Egypt, from June 21 to June 24.
In an official statement issued to the media, the bank said the decision follows recent announcements by the Egyptian government and the African Union to postpone the African Union’s Mid-Year Coordination Summit and the first Africa El Alamein Forum, which had been scheduled for June 25–27 in the Egyptian coastal city.
Afreximbank said the postponement was made due to public health and safety considerations, following developments in the health situation in parts of the African continent.
The bank confirmed that its official Annual General Meeting of Shareholders will no longer be held through in-person attendance and will instead be conducted via written correspondence.
Afreximbank did not provide a new date for the physical events, but emphasized that the adjustment is part of precautionary measures aimed at ensuring the safety of participants and stakeholders.
The bank’s annual meetings bring together government officials, financial institutions, investors and business leaders to discuss trade, investment and economic cooperation across Africa.
