All Elite Wrestling (AEW) President Tony Khan announced on Thursday a huge Pay-Per-View event with the oldest, biggest and world-famed Japanese Pro Wrestling promotion New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), under the theme of the "AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door" in Chicago on June 26.
Came during the streaming of AEW Dynamite episode, Khan welcomed the President of the NJPW Takami Ohbari before they were interrupted by AEW Superstar and one of the earliest NJPW's most prominent faction the Bullet Club Adam Cole who announced the joint PPV event.
Shortly, Cole teased the presence of another Bullet Club member who received historical welcoming from the audience at the venue who is Switchblade Jay White.
Both Cole and White teased a match between Undisputed Elite that include reDragon: Kyle O'rile and Bobby Fish, Adam Cole, the Young Bucks, and the former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, against the current members of the Bullet Club.
It is expected that the stars of both companies' roasters will appear in their shows for promoting the anticipated card of the PPV.
The first announced competition between an AEW Superstar and NJPW superstar is Adam vs Tomohiro Ishii for the upcoming episode of AEW Rampage on Friday as part of AEW's Owen Hart tournament.
The media statement for the PPV show said: "Moments ago on AEW: Dynamite live on TBS, the hinges were fully ripped off the Forbidden Door, as it was announced that AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling will present their first ever joint pay-per-view special this summer. “AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door” will take place live on Sunday, June 26, at the United Center in Chicago, featuring marquee matchups between members of AEW and NJPW’s world-class rosters."

On his side Ohbari said: "As we have done for more than 50 years, the power of pro-wrestling can energize people by fulfilling their dreams,” said Takami Ohbari, President of NJPW. “Now, it’s quite an important mission for us, the pro-wrestling industry as a whole. We are not only opening this door. We will show you NJPW’s genuine Strong-Style beyond the Forbidden door.”
It is worthy to mention that AEW managed to get a deal to stream the events for the promotion in Japan.
