Ambassador Mohamedi Ahmed Ni, Secretary-General of the Arab Economic Unity Council (AECU), on Thursday received Mauritania’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, El Hussein Ould Dey, at the AECU headquarters in Cairo.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation, particularly in promoting investment opportunities in Mauritania. Ambassador Ould Dey praised the AECU as a key driver of joint Arab economic action and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting its efforts to advance Arab economic integration. He also called for expanding membership to realize the vision of a unified Arab common market.
Ni welcomed the ambassador’s visit, commending Mauritania’s continued support for Arab joint institutions. He emphasized the AECU’s responsibility to intensify efforts under its 2025–2029 plan to maximize benefits from global economic shifts and to push forward regional economic cooperation
