Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, the advisor to the Egyptian President for Health Affairs, considered that the country's government is preparing to confront the new "Omicron" mutant from the Coronavirus (known also as COVID-19).

Taj El-Din said, in an interview with the "dmc" satellite channel, that there is close monitoring and follow-up by the Egyptian government for all citizens and medical sites, and those coming from abroad to avoid the spread of the virus in the country.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Health and all institutions are preparing to confront "Omicron", starting with the Supreme Committee for the Management of the Corona  Crisis, which includes all ministries.

He added that the Ministry of Health is the first response, and then the Ministry of Higher Education, as it is responsible for university hospitals, in addition to other private and public institutions.

The advisor to the Egyptian president added that "all institutions are planning to contain any upcoming crisis," noting that viruses that remain for a long time are more dangerous mutants.

On the other hand, the Egyptian Ministry of Health announced that every citizen over 18 years of age who has not received the anti-Coronavirus vaccine will lose his right to obtain government services.

Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said in a statement to "ON" channel that "the obligation to vaccinate belongs to everyone over the age of 18 and does not include ages between 12 and 18 because it is an optional stage."

He added that "the decisions of the ministry are directed to everyone over the age of 18, meaning that no citizen will be able to obtain government services or the student will be able to sit for   exams before receiving the vaccination, as well as enter the university campus or obtain a driver's license."

He stressed that "compulsory vaccination means that whoever refuses to receive the vaccine loses his right to obtain state services, whether in health or education."

He noted that "the number of doses that have been used from  the anti-corona vaccines so far is close to 55 million doses."
