ADNOC, a leading United Arab Emirates oil company, inaugurated its first ultra-fast green hydrogen fueling station, "H2GO," on Friday.

This pioneering station is part of a pilot project to test a fleet of emission-free hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Managed by "ADNOC Distribution" and constructed on land provided by "Masdar City," the station will produce clean green hydrogen from water using an electrolyzer powered by a clean electricity grid, as per a statement from ADNOC.

Musbah Al Kaabi, the Executive Director for Low Carbon Solutions and International Growth at ADNOC commented on the opening: "The launch of the region's first ultra-fast green hydrogen fueling station aligns with ADNOC's continuous efforts to support the United Arab Emirates' National Hydrogen Strategy."

The hydrogen provided by this station will be recognized as "green hydrogen," produced using solar energy sources, certified by the internationally recognized International Organization for Standard Renewable Energy Certificates. The pilot project aims to gather data to understand the feasibility of hydrogen vehicles in the UAE in the long term.

The project is supported by the "Abu Dhabi Integrated Transport Center" and features ultra-fast hydrogen fueling technology and equipment provided by Linde, a global leader in industrial gases and engineering.

Toyota, Al-Futtaim Motors, and BMW will provide a fleet of hydrogen-powered vehicles for the duration of the pilot project, with testing by taxi companies, including "Tawasul."

Hydrogen, a clean energy carrier, produces no carbon dioxide emissions, preventing any carbon emissions from its production to end-use.

The station will generate clean hydrogen from water using an electrolyzer backed by a clean electricity grid.
