Academy-award winner Jeff Bridges announced on Monday that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma.
“I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery,” Bridges tweeted on Twitter.
He contuined: “I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends,” Bridges continued. “Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together.”
Bridges is known for his roles in critically acclaimed movies such as “Starman”, “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot”, “The Fisher King”, "The Big Lebowski", and "Bad Times at the El Royale".
He has also starred in commercially successful films such as the first installment of the Marvel franchise “Iron Man”, "King Kong", and "Tron".
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma made up just over four percent of all new cancer cases in 2020. The disease has a 5-year relative survival rate of nearly 73 %, according to the National Cancer Institute.
