Actor Amr Saad Gains "Awlaad Haritna" Copyrights

Egyptian actor Amr Saad succeeded in gaining the copyrights of award-winning Naguib Mahfouz's novel "Awlaad Haritna" (Children of Gebelawi) on Thursday.

Saad aims to adapt the novel to series to be screened on various international platforms. Also, this adaptation will be the first of such a controversial Arabic literary work.

Moreover, the actor set an agreement to have the copyrights of the novel from Mahfouz's family.

The next step is continuing the ongoing negotiations with many producers and platforms to start shooting the work.

"Awlad Haritna" is considered one of the unforgettable literary works in the history of Egypt. Also, it was the main Mahouz's work that carried his name to the Nobel Prize, and to the international literary canon.

Several Mahfouz's works have been adapted previously into TV shows and films such as "Afrah El Qouba" (Wedding Song), Zoqaq El Midaq (Midaq Ally), Al Les Wi El Kelab (The Thief and the Dog), and Mirama, alongside the Cairo Trilogy: "Bain El Qasreen" (Palace Walk,) "Qasr El Shouq" (Palace of Desire), and "El Sokareya" (Sugar Street).
